West Virginia Man Dies at Grand Canyon
While visiting the Grand Canyon with his family, a West Virginia man collapsed and died Sunday, March 9.
According to the National Park Service, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center was alerted to an unresponsive male at the South Entrance Station on Sunday afternoon. A park service ranger arrived within minutes and administered CPR and used a defibrillator. Paramedics responded and continued to try to resuscitate the man, to no avail.
All efforts to revive 59-year-old Brian Brewer were unsuccessful. Brewer had complained of not feeling well and became unresponsive on his way back to his hotel.
The incident is still under investigation by the National Park Service in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
This is the second death in the Grand Canyon under investigation by NPS and the Coconino County Medical Examiner within the past month. In February, human remains were found in Hermit Creek drainage area. Read more about it here.
