You can enjoy a Prime Rib dinner buffet to help benefit two organizations this Friday at the Ja’di’To’oh restaurant.

The restaurant will be hosting a special event called Tip-A-Cop, which will benefit the “Shop with a Cop” program and the Special Olympics.

Shop with a Cop is a national program which stretches from the east coast to the west coast, and gives kids money to shop at a local store with a member of law enforcement.

Each kid is given a predetermined amount of money to spend at the store, as they get to know their friendly neighborhood law enforcers.

Shop with a Cop is especially popular in Page, due to the enthusiasm former Page Police Captain Ray Varner had showed for the event every year.

The Special Olympics will also receive a portion of the proceeds and gratuities from Tip-A-Cop.

The Special Olympics, which have been around since 1968, are celebrated worldwide in over one hundred twenty countries.

Like the Olympics that run every two years, there is even a Special Olympics World Event held every four years, which alternates between summer and winter games. In addition, there are local Special Olympics events that take place all around the nation.

Page High School Track and Field recently held their own small-scale Special Olympics event on March 13th.

Lake Powell Communications spoke with DeJay Lister from Antelope Point Marina about the Tip-A-Cop event.

“It’s a Prime Rib Dinner.  It’s pretty much just a buffet, and you get to mingle, talk, and we are going to look for some live entertainment,” said Lister.

For those interested in attending the Tip-A-Cop event, each plate will be $25 for adults and $15 for children.  Anyone under the age of six eats free.
