There’s been a lot of talk around Arizona, and particularly around these parts, because 1st District US Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick is running for the US Senate seat held by John McCain since the Reagan administration.

But before the November election comes around, it’s possible Kirkpatrick, a Democrat, could possibly face a different Republican. There are currently three others who are campaigning around the state hoping to win the August Republican primary over McCain.

Clair Van Steenwyk is a radio talk show host, Kelli Ward has served time in the Arizona Senate and Alex Meluskey owns a printing company. These three are all hoping to knock-off the incumbent in the primary.

There’s also the possibility of another Republican or two checking-in in time to get on the primary ballot. One of those “others” is former Republican Arizona governor Jan Brewer. She hasn’t indicated interest, but you never know.

In many of her press releases Ann Kirkpatrick keys-in on Mr. McCain, so it’s obvious that she fully expects him to be on the ballot come November.
