Camping North RimGrand Canyon North Rim sees season changes beyond the leaves changing color.  Grand Canyon Lodge, operated by Forever Resorts, closed on October 15 and will reopen on May 15, weather permitting.

Camping inside the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim is now closed as well.  National Park Service will continue to operate the North Rim Visitor Center and Bookstore and the backcountry Permits Office through October 31.  From November 1 to December 1, North Rim is open for day use only and no overnight parking is permitted.  Pay at the pump gas and diesel is available November 1 to December 1.  The December 1 date can be moved forward if snow closes Highway 67 prior to that date.

Highway 67 into Grand Canyon North Rim is closed during the winter.  Car or vehicle camping is not allowed.  Personal snowmobiles are not permitted with the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim.  Between November 1 and May 15, backpackers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers can use the North Rim Campground if they have a backcountry use permit from South Rim Backcountry Information Center or the Visitor Center at Pipe Springs National Monument in Fredonia, Arizona.  The DeMotte Campground just outside the park, sixteen miles north of the canyon rim and operated by the US Forest Service, will be closed when snow falls.

The Jacob Lake Campground operated by the US Forest Service and located 45 miles north of the North Rim is only open during the summer.  Kaibab Camper Village, one quarter mile south of Jacob Lake also closes for the winter.  Jacob Lake Inn remains open all winter with slightly shorter hours of operation daily.  They provide a variety of lodging options, a gift shop, country store, service station, bakery and restaurant.  Jacob Lake Inn milkshakes, cookies  and sandwiches are considered delicious in every season of the year.
