Romney Will Seek Changes in Antiquities Act
September 11
10:15 2018

U.S. Senate candidate Mitt Romney promises that he will seek to overhaul the Antiquities Act if he is elected. Romney will propose adding a provision to the act that would require the consent of state legislatures before a national monument is created.  Currently, the president can unilaterally designate monuments. In an appearance before Washington County Republican Women, Romney said he not only supports the construction of the Lake Powell Pipeline but promised he would make it a “priority.”

Romney fully supports the Robert Mueller investigation into the Trump administration but said it is too early to discuss possible sanctions against the president.

Romney admitted that there have been times in his long political career when he let his “political instincts draw me more than principle.”
