Risk of Losing Health Coverage

August 28
08:41 2014

steth_smallThousands of people in Arizona and across the nation are at risk of losing their health coverage through the Affordable Care Act due to inaccurate or incomplete document information. The U-S Department of Health and Human Services (H-H-S) says it has sent out notices to several hundred thousand people whose personal information, such as a Social Security or Permanent Resident Card number, is incomplete or different from the information the government has on file. Pati Urias is with Enroll America which helps Arizonans get insurance through the ACA,

There’s always the possibility that numbers are being transposed, or there’s an incorrect digit that’s been entered. And all that needs to happen is that that correct digit, or the correct number, needs to be submitted so that the discrepancy can be cleared up.” – Pati Urias/Enroll America

Urias says about five-percent, or 6,600 of the 120,000 Arizonans who purchased health coverage through the Affordable Care Act are impacted by this. She says anyone required to provide citizenship or immigration information should also double-check to make sure it’s accurate.

According to a press release from H-H-S, people notified of this have until September 5th to provide the necessary information or their A-C-A health coverage will end on September 30th.
