With cross country and volleyball having to wait another 11 days until their respective seasons begin, all eyes will be on the Sand Devil’s football team as they kick off their 2015 campaign tonight against Tuba City.

Coach Jeff Wheatly said the boys had a good overall week of practice and are ready to go and hit the field. The pulse of the team is running the gambit of emotions from nervous to confident but Coach Wheatly says overall the team is excited for tomorrow’s big reveal that will show what the Sand Devil’s are made of.

With Tuba City not scrimmaging before the season, they enter the contest as an unknown to Page who had no film or scouting reports to study going into the matchup. The coaching staff hopes that Tuba City is similar to last year’s team, a team Page defeated 35-14.

Senior Randall Holgate takes the reins at quarterback this year and coaches are expecting him to shine. Today should be Junior Peter Corbell’s coming out party as he hits the field for the first time as a member of the varsity squad and finally Coach Wheatly described sophomore Jacob Doyle as a heck of an athlete who had a good week of practice and should be a lot of fun to watch.

As a team, the defense has been challenged by coaches to pitch a shutout.

The Page Sand Devils kickoff their football season tonight at 7pm at Page High School.
