Page’s cross country teams traveled to Utah on Friday to run in the Cedar City Invitational. The Varsity boys rebounded very well from a poor showing at Conley last week. Byron Tsinnie, a freshman, had the best race of his high school career thus far, finishing 10th overall, leading the boys to a third place finish.
As for the girls’ varsity race, Lara Yazzie once again led the way with a 5th place finish. Kloe Littleman, a freshman, had her best performance of the year and posted a stellar time finishing 8th. However, Coach MacArthur Lane said, “I do feel that as a team, the girls still haven’t hit on all cylinders just yet. If we could get them all to perform their best on the same day then, this team would be even better. While each girl posted their best time of the year for 3 miles, there is always room for improvement. “
The Sand Devils football team had another rough showing on Friday night, falling to the Snowflake Lobos 67-8. Turnovers once again haunted Page, who committed five on the night, including three interceptions returned for touchdowns. The Sand Devils avoided being shut out for the second time this year when Randall Holgate found Donavan Tsinnijinnie for the 19 yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter. Even in the loss, Coach Jeff Wheatly can see the team coming together.
The Sand Devils are 1-5 on the year, next up a homecoming match up against Show Low.
