Page Unified Survey Controversy

Not to be confused with TeenScreen, another controversy is brewing over a survey Page Unified students are being asked to take this week. Educators claim the Tripod Survey helps them measure student perceptions in the areas of Teaching Effectiveness, Student Engagement, Student Satisfaction, and Whole School Climate. The confidential, anonymous, and voluntary Tripod survey is a statewide evaluation system used to measure a teacher’s effectiveness.

According to Page High School Principal, Paul Gagnon, the survey is administered at least 6 weeks into the new school year. He says they will be able to have results as early as the first part of November to evaluate with teachers and then set goals for the rest of the year. Gagnon says the survey is a “fair assessment which reflects an accurate picture.” He also says the survey was used last year. Opponents claim the questions are too personal and invasive of family privacy. Again, the survey is confidential, anonymous, and voluntary and parents are also welcome to view the survey questions at their child’s school.
