Page Fire Department Responds to Fire at High School

Due to a contained fire at the Page Unified High School this morning, December 3, 2013, classes have been cancelled and the school is closed for the day for all Page Unified students and faculty. Maintenance and custodial staff should report for duty, but for all others district wide, including students and faculty, school and work are cancelled for the day, Tuesday, December 3rd.

The Tse’ Yaato’ High School is also closed for the day.

While an official press release is expected later today, law enforcement personnel say the fire was reported about 4:20 A.M. this morning and is located in the welding room of the school.  Crews were still on site and working at 8 A.M. this morning but outer containment had been achieved and no flames or smoke were visible.  In addition to Page Fire and Police, the County Sheriffs Office, and Parks Service personnel, fire crews from Greenehaven and Big Water also responded to the scene. No initial reports of injury or estimates of damage or loss due to the blaze were immediately available.  Again, an official report is expected to be released today.

According Mark Lomeland, all athletic events will continue as scheduled.
