Page Unified SchoolsAdjacent Ways Property Tax has returned to the Page Unified School District portion on the most recent property tax statement.  According to Jim Walker, Superintendent of Page Unified, Adjacent Ways funds were not collected in the 2012-2013 and 2013-1014 school years in an effort to alleviate the increase in property taxes patrons were already experiencing.

Adjacent Ways is a special district assessment to construct and maintain school district property for safe ingress and egress from public school property for buses and fire equipment.  The special district assessment requires truth in taxation notice and public hearing.  In documents provided to Lake Powell Communication by Page Unified, the Notice was published in the Arizona Daily Sun and the Lake Powell Chronicle prior to the Hearing on July 8, 2014 before the Page Unified School District Governing Board where it was unanimously approved. $50,000 was approved for collection during the 2014-2015 school year.

When funds allow, there are plans to build a new student pick up and drop off area at Lake View.  This results in better emergency vehicle access in the Lake View parking lot.  Right now students are walked to the north side of Lake View along 20th Avenue to be picked up by their parents.

Adjacent Ways funds were used in 2009-2010 to upgrade and pave the Desert View, Lake View and Page High School bus ramps.  The funds were used to redesign and modify the access to the Desert View front parking lot in 2010-2011.  The current year’s adjacent ways assessment results in a $3.62 increase of taxes on a $100,000 home.  Page Unified School District continues to invest in student safety.
