With a record of 1-1 the Page High School football team will host Red Rock High School of Sedona this Friday night at 7. Coming off last Friday’s road loss at Payson, head football coach Jeff Wheatley says this week he and his coaching staff have concentrated on adjustments.

We’ve been working on a lot of small adjustments on offense, defense and special teams. We feel that we are close to turning a corner, but we have to get rid of mental mistakes and turnovers.” – Jeff Wheatley, Head Football Coach Page H.S.

Three weeks ago against Tuba City, the Sand Devils made some mistakes in half-one, but tightened-up and ended up with an impressive 34-14 win over the Warriors. But last Friday’s game didn’t turnout that way, and the team suffered a 49-21 loss.

In that loss, on the positive side, senior Jayson Moore put-up some big numbers for Page, scoring twice from 5 and 25 yards on the ground, catching six passes while running for a total of over 120-yards on the ground.

What will it take for the Sand Devils to bounce back Friday against the Scorpians? Coach Wheatley says it will take consistency and efficiency.

Efficiency and taking care of the ball on Offense. We need to eliminate penalties and mental mistakes. Defense must pursue the ball and be sure tacklers,” said Wheatley. “Overall, we need to be able to adjust to any given situation and communicate as a team. “

The game will be carried on Lake Powell Country KPGE AM-1340.
