Page City Council Meeting Just Got Longer

February 25
22:38 2014

After the surprise resignation of the soon-to-start city manager, the agenda for the Page City Council’s Wednesday meeting just got longer and more complicated. With two Executive Sessions on the agenda, council members are in for a late night.

Meeting Wednesday Just Got Longer

AgendaThe meeting starts at 6:30pm in City Hall, and is open to the public until the closed Executive Sessions are called. Individuals are welcome to speak on any issue of concern during the Hear From the Citizens section.

Items on the open agenda include swearing in of Richard Estes, the new city attorney. The new city manager was slated to be sworn in as well, but not anymore.

Issues to be discussed include the city council/staff retreat, ADOT’s update on Highway 89, insurance renewals, Republic Service’s rate increase and purchase of a MILO firearms simulator and training system for the Page Police Department. Bids for waterline replacement for Page Utility Enterprises will be considered. The mayor will give a State Legislative update. There will be an update from the Council Finance Subcommittee, discussion and possible action on security for the Dam Jam event and discussion about council members attending Page Unified School District board meetings.

And then the fun begins. Two Executive sessions, closed to the public, are scheduled to follow all of the above. The first is Tourism Director Lee McMichael’s evaluation. The second is figuring out what to do about the elusive city manager position.

The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12 at 6:30pm. Persons with disabilities should call City Clerk Kim Larson at 928-645-4221 for program and services information and accessibility.
