O’Halleran Attends White House Meeting on Build Back Better Legislation

Oct. 19, 2021

Cong. Tom O’Halleran

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) attended a meeting at the White House with President Biden, Vice President Harris, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Senators Mark Warner (D-VA), Jon Tester (D-MT) and Catherine Cortez Masto (NV) and Representatives Suzan DelBene (WA-01), Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Ami Bera (CA-07), and Mike Thompson (CA-05) to discuss forthcoming legislation.

“Today, I spoke with President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Yellen, and a small working group of practical lawmakers about what hardworking, rural families—who make up the backbone of our nation—need to see from legislation we consider this fall,” said O’Halleran. “Arizona seniors, veterans, tribes, and long-overlooked rural communities want quality, affordable health care; sound education and opportunity for their children; and targeted investments that will address climate change, creating new, good-paying jobs for rural Americans. Arizonans want their government to do the most good without saddling our kids and grandkids with excessive debt.”

O’Halleran, formerly a Republican, has long been a champion of bipartisanship and getting things done for Arizonans, ranking within top ten percent of most effective members in the House of Representatives by the Center for Effective Lawmaking, and ranked in the top 20 most bipartisan members of the House of Representatives, and the ninth most bipartisan Democrat in the House of Representatives by the Lugar Center and Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.

“Today, I was pleased to help guide productive conversation and elevate the voices of both my constituents and my colleagues who represent the voices of diverse Americans across our great nation,” continued O’Halleran. “I know that if we continue to work together, we can get this done for working families.”

O’Halleran has advocated for a vote on the Senate-passed bipartisan infrastructure bill.
