September 26
15:15 2013

vermilion_cliffs_smallOn Saturday, September 28, volunteers across the nation will celebrate National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy.  The Bureau of Land Management is hosting eight National Public Lands Day events in Arizona.  You can be part of this amazing national effort.  Events are scheduled for Grand Canyon, Vermilion Cliffs, Antelope Canyon and more.

Participants for work projects should wear outdoor appropriate clothes (long sleeves and long pants recommended), sturdy shoes, hat, and sunscreen.  Bring water bottles and gloves if available.  Visit www.blm.gov/az/st/en/npld.html to learn more about the scheduled events.

National Public Lands Day educates Americans about the environment and natural resources, and the need for shared stewardship of these lands; builds partnerships between the public sector and the local community; and improves public lands for outdoor recreation, with volunteers assisting land managers in hands-on work.
