Lyle Jeffs Awaits Judge’s Decision

Lyle Jeffs Awaits Judge’s Decision

It’s a wait & see situation now in Salt Lake City. Lyle Jeffs is still in custody, but will he remain so? That is the question. Following a long hearing yesterday US District Judge Ted Stewart said he will deliver his decision, but didn’t indicate when it would be delivered.

Lyle Jeffs is one of several defendants in the upcoming food stamp fraud trial involving the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS). He is the brother of church leader, Warren Jeffs, who is serving a life prison term as a convicted pedophile. Another brother, Seth, is also involved in the food stamp case, and was already freed by Judge Stewart, even though he is a convicted felon.

Sam Brower is the private eye and author who helped to bring down Warren Jeffs. And even though Jeffs is serving a life term in a Texas prison, there are indications that he is still running the FLDS. Brower spoke this week to Lake Powell Communications.

“I don’t know what it takes to keep somebody in jail, if they’re convicted of aiding and abetting a federal fugitive, as Seth Jeffs was. If that’s not enough to keep somebody in jail, I don’t know what is,” said Brower, who told us that if Lyle Jeffs is released we may never hear from him again.

Sam Brower was one of those scheduled to speak at Wednesday’s hearing in Salt Lake City.

Lyle Jeffs is one of eleven defendants in the food stamp case. His attorneys point out that he has no criminal record.
