I-15 Page Las VegasMaybe if you don’t have to do any traveling right now, you should just stay put. Heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Norbert have now shut down portions of Interstate 15 impacting travel between St. George, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada. Prolonged periods of moderate to heavy rains have flooded and washed out several stretches of roads and freeways. Several inches of rain has fallen in some areas of Nevada. ABC News said officials projected I-15 could be shut down for several days for repairs.

For an alternate travel route from St. George to Las Vegas, motorists can take Highway 18 to Utah Highway 56 which becomes Nevada Highway 319 to U.S. Highway 93, to I-15 in Nevada.

Several streets in St. George are flooded and shutdown. Some schools have been dismissed. Flash flood warnings remain in effect for the area including Zion National Park. All slot canyons, including the Narrows at Zion, are closed. Closer to home, Antelope Canyon is a potential danger zone prone to flooding and should be avoided. Weather officials also expressed particular concerns over flooding in the area of the cataract canyon basin including Supai, Grand Canyon National Park, and the Slide Burn scar.
