On Wednesday, U.S Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced $6,788,500 in funding to eight health centers in Arizona for facility renovation, expansion, or construction.

Health centers will use this funding to increase their patient capacity and to provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations in Arizona.

“Health centers are cornerstones of the communities they serve,” said Secretary Burwell.  “Today’s awards will empower health centers in Arizona to build more capacity and provide needed health care to additional individuals and their families.”

Two hospitals in our local area were recipients with Canyonlands Community Health Care in Page awarded $651,000 and Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation receiving $1,000,000.
