Press release from Page City Police June 20, 2017

On 6/20/17 at 1159 hours, the Page Police Department responded to Horseshoe Bend for an unresponsive male subject evidently suffering from heat exhaustion. When police arrived on scene bystanders were performing CPR and the subject was not breathing. EMS arrived and began treatment.

Information we received was that the male subject and his wife had walked to the edge of Horseshoe Bend and were walking back when the male subject started to get tired. He was holding his chest and he collapsed about 75-yards east of the gazebo.

EMS transported the male subject to the hospital where life-saving measures were performed for quite some time. He was pronounced deceased at approximately 1307 hours.

Detective Miller was called out to handle the investigation. We contacted a crisis counselor for the family.

Detective Miller contacted the Coconino County Medical Examiner who requested the body be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
