Governor Doug Ducey has appointed Tim Jeffries as the new director of the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES).

“Tim is a highly accomplished and acclaimed business leader with more than three decades of experience in the global economy, including a proven record managing diverse industries and organizations,” the governor said.

Jeffries is the founder of P7 Enterprises, an executive consulting firm providing support services to growth companies in various industries. He has also led several global business optimization efforts at IHS, Inc., in Colorado, where he has served as senior vice president since 2009.

“He’s a champion for economic growth and opportunity and a passionate advocate for people in-need,” Ducey said. “That spirit and service will be extremely valuable in advancing the department’s mission. I’m pleased he’ll be bringing his talent, experience and enthusiasm to our administration.”

Jeffries’ business experience includes serving as executive chairman for ChemResearch Company, Inc.; independent director for Merchants Information Solutions, Inc.; vice chairman of Mission Technology Group, Inc.; member of the board of directors for the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He also has served as an executive of several high-tech companies in California, Colorado and Arizona.

In addition to his business background, Jeffries is highly active in community volunteer and advocacy efforts. After the 1981 killing of his older brother – in what is considered one of the most gruesome murders in Colorado history – he became deeply passionate and involved in victims’ rights advocacy.

Considered a national leader in the crime victims’ rights movement, his service includes: board president of the Arizona Voice for Crime Victims, Inc.; board president of the National Justice Project; past president for the National Organization for Victims Assistance; and former national trustee for Parents of Murdered Children, Inc.

Jeffries obtained a Bachelor of Science in political science from Santa Clara University and received a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
