Golf Course Begins New Landscaping
Lake Powell National Golf Course Begins New Landscaping
Special for Lake Powell Life by Pam Brown
At Lake Powell National Golf Course, landscaping changes are happening quickly . After approval by Page City Council, changes to the landscaping around the club house went in to high gear, starting with the removal of overgrown evergreen bushes and deficient grass near the upper and lower parking lots.
Dwayne Richard, Parks and Cemetery Supervisor for the City of Page, leapt into action the day after Council approval and began the removal of the somewhat neglected landscaping. Debris was piled at the end of the parking lot for removal and the areas were scraped in preparation for gravel ground cover.
Jake Hunter, Director of Golf Operations at Lake Powell National Golf Course, is pleased with the renovations planned. The landscaping around the clubhouse will be similar to the desert landscaping around City Hall. Lower maintenance costs are associated with the landscaping renovation.
“The gravel and boulders will give us a nice clean look while conserving resources.”–Jake Hunter, Director of Golf Operations
Inside, the club house renovations will include modernizing the bathrooms and making them compliant with the Americans with Disability Act. The weather is encouraging the golf course to turn green and golfers to play their best early spring game. The tournament season starts in April. There will be a mens and a ladies golf group to play weekly. Golfers at all levels of play are welcome. Lake Powell National Golf Course under Aramark management has increased revenues and the course’s reputation for great hospitality.
