Flash Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch today for much of the state of Arizona and southern Utah. Showers and thunderstorms are likely today. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. The forecast for today is mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Light southwest wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. We could possibly have rain with us through Wednesday.

The flash flood watch that is in effect for our area is for a very moist monsoon plume in place across western Arizona this morning which will spread across the state.

STORMS TODAY WILL BE CAPABLE OF RAINFALL RATES EXCEEDING ONE INCH PER HOUR. STORM MOTIONS THIS AFTERNOON FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE…ESPECIALLY THOSE LOCATED ALONG AREA CREEKS…RIVERS OR OTHER FLASH FLOOD PRONE AREAS…SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
