Fire Restrictions have been lifted for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Due to the recent monsoon precipitation, the extended fire restrictions have been lifted but National Park Service Superintendent Todd Brindle reminds all that safely monitoring and managing any fires during your enjoyment of park resources is crucial.

The following actions are always prohibited in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument:

  • Igniting, building, maintaining, attending or using a fire outside of provided fire receptacles in developed areas such as Wahweap, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing and Lees Ferry Campgrounds and at campsites along the Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry.
  • Fires or open flames within 300 feet (100 yards) of all archaeological sites, at all fuel docks, and at all marinas, except within the galleys or on grills of vessels moored at marinas.
  • Burning or attempting to burn any material other than wood.
  • Leaving trash or glass in the fire pits after departing a site.
  • Having a fire that exceeds four feet in height and width.
  • Discharging, or using any kind of fireworks, tracer ammunition or other incendiary devices in any location on federal lands is always prohibited.
