The beautiful Kaibab National Forest looks even better when the temperatures in Page are over 100 degrees.  The Kaibab Plateau has elevations up to 9000 feet and the forest is bordered on the south by the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim.  There are two major campgrounds available for up to 14 day stays at $18 per night.  Jacob Lake Campground has 51 camping sites with adjacent two group camping sites for up to 100 people each.  DeMotte Campground has 38 single family campsites with tables and cooking grills.  Half of the DeMotte campsites are first come, first served.  Reservations can be made for either campground at Recreation.gov .  Tents, trailers and small motorhomes are welcome but there are no utility hookups available at these campgrounds.

The Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at the Jacob Lake intersection of US Highway 89A and AZ Highway 67 is the first place to stop for information.  The DeMotte Campground is about 25 miles south of the Visitors Center on AZ 67 and about 7 miles north of the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim where an entrance fee is charged.  There are currently no fire restrictions in effect on the Kaibab National Forest, so you can enjoy a campfire and s’mores in the cool temperatures.
