Adam Ericksen, 27, of Bountiful, Utah, was in a private raft; Charles McLynch, 50, from New York, was on a commercial rafting trip.

The two men were in separate rafts.

The water level was higher than usual on the river which caused faster currents and added debris to the water, which could have played a factor in the rafts overturning.

The Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office is currently trying to identify the cause of their deaths.

The rafts flipped over in a rapid called Funnel Falls, which is over fifty miles upstream from Moab, Utah.

Several other occupants of the rafts were thrown into the river, but there were no injuries.

Reportedly, there have been four other people that have died there in that last sixteen years.
