CRD To Use Back Driveway

Barring any more changes in Page City policy, Colorado River Discovery buses will be allowed to continue using the back gate on 5th Avenue as their street entry. General Manager Korey Seyler says the business use of the residential and commercial roadway has come under controversy recently from an area resident, Wes Barry, who expressed his displeasure with the city’s decision at the last council meeting.

According to Seyler, City Manager Rick Olson, City Attorney Robert Wingo, and Captain Ray Varner of the Page Police Department met last Wednesday with Colorado River Discovery about continuing to use the 5th street driveway as an entrance for their bus fleet. Seyler emphasized that Colorado River Discovery (CRD) wants to be a good neighbor and does not want to disturb residents but the low clearance on the front end of their buses and the steep driveway makes it impossible for them to enter through the other business gate on 6th Avenue without backing their buses in, which then stops traffic and causes congestion problems on the street.

In the fall of 2005, the National Park Service selected Colorado River Discovery, LLC to operate the daily Colorado River Rafting tour operation below Glen Canyon Dam, Arizona.
