New Chair for Coconino County Board of Supervisors

Matt Ryan, New Chairman, Coconino County Board of Supervisors

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to name District 3 Supervisor Matt Ryan as it’s next new Chairman and also applauded recently approved funding. Supervisor Ryan said he was honored for yet another opportunity to represent the Board and county residents as Chairman. Ryan also praised outgoing Chairwoman Liz Archuleta’s leadership as Chair. The board also voted unanimously to name District 4 Supervisor Mandy Metzger as Vice-Chairwoman. The new leadership roles will begin October 20th and they will serve in the positions until August of 2014.

Coconino is the 2nd largest county by land area in the contiguous 48 US states with 18,661 sq miles. The County seat is in Flagstaff, Arizona.  Approximately 30% of the county’s total population is Native American — primarily of the Navajo Nation.

Listed below (by district) are the current Board of Supervisors members:

District 1 – Art Babbott
District 2 – Liz Archuleta (Chair)
District 3 – Matt Ryan (New Chair starting October 20, 3013)
District 4 – Mandy Metzger
District 5 – Lena Fowler

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors are elected for a term of four years by the above listed districts. Their job is to establish administrative policy and direction for the County and to oversee over all County departmental budgets and revenue extensions.
