dinosaur_smallThe Dinosaur Festival is on this weekend in Big Water, although with some changes caused by the federal shut down.

Since the visitor’s centers are now closed and will remain closed until further notice, the Friday night lecture to kick off the festival will now be held at the at the Page Public Safety Building at 808 Coppermine Road in Page, AZ. The keynote presentation tonight will also now feature Dr. Joseph Sertich, Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science as Dr. Alan Titus has been furloughed. The presentation begins at 7:00 P.M.

Also, due to the government closure, the paleo tours scheduled for Sunday in Cottonwood Canyon have been cancelled. Organizers say they will try and schedule those again at a later date.

The Big Water Dinosaur Festival is celebrating the many past and ongoing dinosaur fossil discoveries in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and other areas surrounding Big Water, UT. The all-day Dinosaur Festival and Arts and Crafts fair is a go for this Saturday October 5th in Big Water. And don’t forget the Dinosaur Dance Saturday night!

The Dinosaur Festival will be surrounding the Big Water Town Hall and Fire Station at 60 Aaron Burr, just off Hwy 89 on October 4th, 5th, and 6th.
