Golliard Park in Page just became a lot more inviting to the kids and the parents of the area. On Monday evening with the winds blowing and children everywhere, city officials and the Page/Lake Powell Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon on a brand new shaded playground.

Susan Pilkington is with the Page Parks & Recreation Board and she took delight in cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new playground.

“I’m a mom who really wanted a park for her kids,” Pilkington, the mother of two, told Lake Powell Communications.

She said this addition to the park is very meaningful.

“We started three years ago, when she was just two years old,” she said motioning to one of her children. “She loves going to parks and we just wanted a nice safe place for her to play.”

There were a couple of council members on hand. including Levi Tappan. City Manager Crystal Dyches was also there, too, and carrying the big scissors for the event was the chamber’s Executive Director, Judy Franz.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, a lot of pushing; but so many people worked together and supported it,” Pilkington added.

She also said some people without children were also in there getting the playground off the “ground.”

She told us she was thrilled the first time she saw it and is very happy with the results.
