Arizona’s Governor to be, Doug Ducey

In the governor’s race Tuesday the Arizona State Treasurer, Doug Ducey, a Republican, was the easy winner over Fred Duval 54% to 41%. Ducey will assume the position currently held by Governor Jan Brewer in January.

When it was obvious that Ducey would be the winner, Duval spoke to the press.

I have called Doug Ducey to congratulate him and wish him well. He has a big job to do, and I hope he will be an inclusive governor, who will move past divisiveness and truly be a leader for all of Arizona.” – Losing candidate for Governor, Fred Duval.

In the race for the U.S. House of Representatives it was the incumbent Democrat, Ann Kirkpatrick, who was the easy winner over, the Republican House speaker in Phoenix, Andy Tobin.

Tobin called Kirkpatrick Wednesday morning to offer his congratulations.

Arizona State Senator Michele Reagan defeated Democrat Terry Goddard and will be the new Arizona Secretary of State.

As far as who will lead the Arizona schools, at press time it was still a toss-up between Republican Diane Douglas and Democrat David Garcia.

In Coconino County the Superior Court race went to Jacqueline Hatch, who beat Brent Harris.

Coconino County voters approved Proposition 403 on Tuesday. The sales tax will mean money earmarked for road maintenance, improvements and snow-plowing around the county. The new tax will generate an estimated $7-Million per year.
